Tax Credits Awarded to Three Projects, O’Neal Says
November 9, 2021
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) today announced just over $260,000 in Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credits have been awarded to fund three projects in the 48th Legislative District.
NAP encourages private sector investment to help improve distressed communities by providing tax credits to businesses that donate capital to support projects that address neighborhood and community problems. Project categories include affordable housing, community services, crime prevention, education, job training, charitable food, blight, special population issues, veterans initiatives and long-term community revitalization.
“Through my work with the Washington Blight Working Group, I have seen firsthand the importance of gathering leaders from all areas of the community to join together to affect change,” O’Neal said. “I commend these businesses for stepping up to address the needs of our area. Tax credits are just one tool in the arsenal to help enhance our community.”
The projects funded are:
• $6,600 from Brentwood Bank for Transitional Paths to Independent Living (TRPIL) to add a fitness center for its clients in the new building.
• $16,500 from Model Cleaners for Little Lake Theatre Company to create a pilot program with the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf to expand the live theatrical experience to the deaf including theatrical jobs.
• $240,000 from First Commonwealth Bank, UPMC and Huntington Bank to the Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group Washington to continue its blight and revitalization work in the city of Washington to include both small businesses and residents.
The 48th Legislative District in Washington County includes the city of Washington; Chartiers, North Franklin, North Strabane and South Strabane townships; and Canonsburg, East Washington and Houston boroughs.
