O’Neal, Ortitay to Host Shredding Event at Hollywood Casino

HARRISBURG – As a free service to the community, Reps. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) and Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) will be holding a shredding event on Saturday, April 26, at Hollywood Casino at the Meadows to give residents of the 48th and 46th legislative districts a chance to safeguard themselves against identity theft by having their personal documents securely destroyed.

The event will be held from 9-11 a.m. at 210 Racetrack Road, Washington.

“Identity theft remains a problem,” O’Neal said. “There are many ways identity thieves steal data, but one of the simplest ways to prevent falling victim is to properly destroy documents containing sensitive information. I encourage all residents to participate.”

“I’m happy to partner with Rep. O’Neal for this event,” Ortitay said. “Any steps you can take to avoid identity theft should be employed. I look forward to seeing residents take advantage of this opportunity.”

Acceptable items include all paper documents. No more than three brown paper grocery bags or open small cardboard boxes per household are permitted, and no businesses, please. Bags are preferred to boxes. In addition, no large binder clips or hardbound covers will be accepted. Materials more than 1-inch thick will need to be broken down. 

All items to be shredded are to be placed in the trunk of the vehicle, and participants should not get out of their vehicle in order to speed the process. Once a person arrives at the event, he or she should open their trunk.

The 48th Legislative District in Washington County covers the city of Washington; Amwell, part of Carroll (Districts 3, 4 and 5), East Finley, Fallowfield, Morris, North Franklin, part of North Strabane (Districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), Nottingham, Somerset, South Franklin, South Strabane, and West Finley townships; and the boroughs of Donora, East Washington and Green Hills.

The 46th Legislative District includes South Fayette Township and McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant and North Strabane (Districts 6,7,8 and 9) townships and Canonsburg, Houston and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
