O’Neal Supports Final State Budget
July 12, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) today issued the following statement in response to the Legislature passing a $50.849 billion Fiscal Year 2026-27 state budget:
“We all hoped this could be completed on time, but working a few extra days resulted in a better product. We were able to reduce the amount of spending proposed by the governor, thus allowing us not to tap into the Rainy Day Fund. This will be key in holding off tax increases in future years.
“In addition, no new taxes will hit hardworking Pennsylvanians this year as they work to make ends meet. On top of that, we are able to help older retired municipal police officers, firefighters, teachers and state employees by providing a cost-of-living increase for their pensions. These public servants who all retired before 2001 and served their communities need to know they have not been forgotten.
“Another item of note is this budget allocates $775 million in funding for shovel-ready rural road and bridge projects. These are projects that have been approved and ready to go but lack funding in order to be completed. These repairs will reduce the wear and tear on vehicles, which will benefit drivers’ pocketbooks.”
