O’Neal Announces School Safety and Mental Health Grants

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) today announced school districts within the 48th Legislative District will be receiving more than $1.4 million under the School Safety and Mental Health Grant Program.
The funding will be used to support physical security enhancements and/or mental health initiatives. It was renewed for the 2026-27 school year as part of the recently passed state budget.
“Children should feel safe and secure when they are in school,” O’Neal said. “This funding helps school districts strengthen security measures, expand access to mental health resources and prepare for potential safety threats. I’m pleased to support this worthwhile program.”
The school districts will receive the following amounts:
• Bentworth – $145,861.
• Canon-McMillan – $327,742.
• Charleroi – $160,981.
• McGuffey – $166,178.
• Ringgold – $209,965.
• Trinity Area – $239,319.
• Washington – $166,300.
The 48th Legislative District in Washington County covers the city of Washington; Amwell, part of Carroll (Districts 3, 4 and 5), East Finley, Fallowfield, Morris, North Franklin, part of North Strabane (Districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), Nottingham, Somerset, South Franklin, South Strabane, and West Finley townships; and the boroughs of Donora, East Washington and Green Hills.
